Welzien, Henry (19 AUG 1858 - 18 MAY 1932)

Mr. Henry Welzien, living 12 miles southeast of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), died as the result of apoplexy at his home Wednesday, May 18, 1932. Mr. Welzien was born at Beaver Dam, Wis., Aug. 19th, 1858. On Oct. 12th, 1882 he was married to Miss Mary Zell by the Rev. Ed Jonas. This union was blessed with eight children, of whom five have preceded him in death, as also, has his wife. Three children and ten grandchildren survive him. The three children are: Mr. Emil Welzien, town of Reseburg; Mr. Ernest Welzien of Marshfield, and Mrs. E. Strassmann of Eau Claire. Mr. Welzien was sick for only a very short time. His age at the time of his death was 73 years, 8 months and 29 days. Funeral services were held for the deceased on Saturday, May 21st. A large number of relatives and friends from far and near were present at the funeral. The Rev. F. Sprengler was officiating pastor. His text was John 14: 1-3, which he, himself, had selected before his death. The service was embellished by a beautiful and appropriate song sung by the Misses Ruth Thielke and Inez Rossman, Elsie Wendt and Alene Zimmer.
