Richard 'Dick' Wiersig

SPENCER -- Richard "Dick" Arthur Wiersig, 69, Spencer, died Thursday, March 1, 2007, at Mission Regional Medical Center, Mission, Texas.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 8, 2007, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Spencer. Burial will be in Colby Memorial Cemetery, Colby. The Rev. Karl Rose will officiate.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2007, at Community Funeral Home, Spencer, and from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday at the church.

Dick was born July 5, 1937, in Colby to Arthur and Erna (Stock) Wiersig. He graduated from Colby, Wis. High School. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1962. Dick and Violet "Vi" Mayer were married July 23, 1960. He worked construction in Wisconsin and neighboring states, drove semi truck cross country and worked for the U.S. Postal Service for a short time. He owned the Hi-Way Motel in Marshfield, the Lindsey Store in Lindsey and Leisure Time Crafts in Spencer.

Dick is survived by his wife, Vi of Spencer; his children, Guy (Sandy) Mayer of Granton, Richard A. Wiersig Jr. of Marshfield, and Cynthia (Larry) Mueller of Spencer; his grandchildren, Jacob, Angela and Jonathan Mayer, and Danny, Justin and Jessica Mueller; two sisters, Janice (Jack) Shortt of Marshfield and Connie (Larry) Raatz of Stevens Point.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
