 Grant R. Rose

GRANTON -- Grant Rose, age 84, of Granton, died Tuesday, March 6, 2007, in the Palliative Care Unit of Saint Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.

Funeral services for Grant will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 10, 2007, at the Zion American Evangelical Lutheran Church in Granton. The Rev. Keith Lueneburg will officiate. Music will be provided by Marjorie Dahl, organist. Interment will be at the town of Lynn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

Casket bearers are Donald Rose, Roger Bymers, Mike Bymers, Dennis Rose, Devin Rose and Evan Rose.

The Gesche Funeral Home is assisting Grant's family with funeral arrangements.

Grant Raymond Rose was born on June 12, 1922, in the town of Grant, Clark County, the son of Elmer and Martha (Krause) Rose. He attended school in the Lindsey area and then farmed on the family farm. He was united in marriage to Edna Stauffacher on Sept. 11, 1949, in Granton. Along with farming, Grant also worked in Panner's cranberry marshes in City Point during the fall harvest, and for several years as the town of Lynn's assessor. Grant and Edna sold their farm to their son, Merle, in 1987 and moved to their current home.

Grant was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed bowling, horseshoes and playing cards with their card group in Granton. He was also a contributor to the Granton Sportsman's Club.

He is survived by his wife, Edna; three children, Rose Ann (Gary) Chriske of Plover, Harlan (Judith) Rose of Marshfield and Merle (Lori) Rose of Granton; six grandchildren, Shannon (Jeff) Netzinger, Vicki (Adam) Hines, Maren (Trevor) Stolfet, Evan Rose, Devin Rose and DeAnna Rose; five great-grandchildren, Madison, Benjamin and Morgan Netzinger and Landen Stolfet and Coena Rose.

He was preceded in death by his parents; twin infant brothers; a brother, Glen Rose; and a sister, Iva Rose.

The surname of the last great grandchild is incorrect. It should be Coena Hohlstein. Not Rose.
