Elda Ludwig

DORCHESTER - Elda Ludwig, 85, Dorchester, died Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2005, at her residence in Dorchester, where she had lived since 1941.

Funeral services for Elda will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2005, at St. Louis Catholic Church in Dorchester with Rev. Paul Gitter officiating. Burial will be in Dorchester Memorial Cemetery. Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation with family and friends will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31, 2005, at the Maurina Funeral Home in Dorchester, Wis. There will be a parish rosary at 4:30 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., both Monday at the funeral home.

Elda Ruth Riemer was born on July 17, 1920, in the town of Little Black, daughter of John and Anna (Brunner) Riemer. She received her early education at the Little Black School. Elda and William Ludwig were united in marriage on April 13, 1937, in Stetsonville. A homemaker, Elda also was employed as a sales clerk for Krueger's Super Market and cooked at the Block Hotel in Dorchester, Wis. She was known as an excellent seamstress. She was an active member of St. Louis Catholic Church and the Parish Council of Catholic Women. Elda was a talented musician playing the keyboard, guitar and accordian. She enjoyed playing cards, board games, bird watching, baking and was an avid gardener. Elda was also an active member of the Dorchester Senior Citizens.

Elda will be dearly missed by her loving family, six sons, Ronald "Ron" (Bonnie) Ludwig of Merrill, Gordon "Corkie" (Dolores) Ludwig of West Bend, Loren "Louie" (Karen) Ludwig of Armour, S.D., Terry (Janice) Ludwig of West Bend, Lance "Lanny" (Karen) Ludwig of Dorchester, and Greg (Betsy) Ludwig of Ironwood, Mich.; one daughter, Carol (Jim) Peissig of Conway Springs, Kansas; 26 Grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren; one sister, Merle Winchell of Merrill; one daughter-in-law, Clarice Ludwig of Pahrump, Nev.; and many other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by her husband, William Ludwig on May 18, 1972; one son, Gerald Ludwig; three sisters, Mildred, Hazel, Elnora; two brothers, Norman and Gordon; one daughter-in law, Kathleen Ludwig; and two grandchildren, Terry Ludwig and Thomas Peissig.
