Briggs, Harriet (1863 - 1 FEB 1937)

Mrs. Harriet Neville Briggs died at her home in Humbird at eight o’clock, Monday morning, Feb. 1st, 1937, aged 73 years, 4 months and 28 days. She was born at Ridgeland, in Barron county. And was married at Prairie Farm, Nov. 3,1886, to Howard N. Briggs, of Whitestore, New York, who preceded her in death in 1931. They settled in Cedar Falls, where they lived for a number of years. Coming to Humbird in 1913, they had charge of the old Humbird Hotel for some time. To them were born four sons and one daughter, who mourn her death: Eula Mae, Charlton Max, Fletcher Allen, James Keith, and Leith Laurence, all residing at home, excepting Fletcher, who lives in Eau Claire. One grandchild, Blanche May Briggs, of Eau Claire; and three brothers, one of Humbird, F. D. Greene, and two of Reserve, with a number of other relatives, and many friends, mourn at this time.

The funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the home and at 2:00 o’clock at the Free Methodist church, Rev. A. E. Knaak preaching the sermon, and were attended by many neighbors and friends. Attending from away were Mrs. C. M. Olson and son Robert, of Osseo. Burial was in Mentor cemetery.

Card of Thanks. We wish to sincerely thank the minister, the choir, the pallbearers, the Legion and Auxiliary; also all the other people in the community who generously gave and brought in things, to assist while mother was ill and after her death. Also we thank Mrs. Ted Greene and Mrs. Jennie Vinton for their assistance in the care of mother.
