Humbird High School Alumni Banquet (8 JUN 1937)

Annual Alumni Banquet. Tuesday evening, June 8, about fifty members of the Humbird high school alumni association met at the high school for the thirty-first annual banquet. A business session was held in the high school assembly room, at which the following officers were chosen for next year: Gordon Jenswold, president; Werner Amport, vice president; Miss Martha Trachsel, secretary; Nordahl Fristad, treasurer. At the close of the business session, the members were summoned to the gym, which was arranged for the banquet hall. A very fine banquet was prepared by Mrs. Dora Kelsh, and served by the junior girls. The decorations were very pretty, silver and pink over the tables, and favors were realistic peonies.

After the banquet, the president Mrs. Verna Mae Flood, presented the toastmaster for the evening, Wayland Waters, class of ‘35. The new class, nine members - Adolph Selz and Shirley O’Brien absent - was presented by Prin. LeCaptain, he giving personal and intimate references to each one. Miss Phyllis Stuve welcomed the class of ‘37, and Kenneth Nibbe, president of the class, responded. The speakers on the program were E. J. Noyes, Gordon Jenswold, Werner Amport, Miss Martha Trachsel, and N. S. Fristad. The toastmaster lead in a silent toast to the departed members. The program closed with a one act skit entitled, "Taking the Census," by Miss Martha Trachsel and S. R. Newton, which was very enjoyable. The banquet, while not as largely attended as some previous ones, was one of the most successful held by the association.
