Funeral services were conducted at the LaMoffitt Funeral Home in Colby at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday for Van R. Misener, 67, of the village. Mr. Misener passed away at 2:35 a.m. Monday, August 5, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, where he had been a patient since May 6.
Rev. J. A. Olson was in charge of the funeral services and burial was at the Colby Cemetery.
Mr. Misener was born at Macomb, Ill., on April 29, 1879 and came to Unity in 1898 and established a barber shop here two years later.
He was married to Ida E. Liepert in the Lutheran Church here on Jan. 4, 1907 and the family resided here until 1924, when they moved to Decatur, Mich. In 1927 they returned to Unity, where Mrs. Misener died on July 8, 1941. Mr. Misener retired in 1944 because of poor health.
Surviving are three sons and a daughter: Ray, Walworth; Warren, Chicago; Glen, Unity; and Mrs. Forrest (Genevieve) Johnson, Unity. There are also two nieces and a nephew: Mrs. Arthur Salter, Marshfield; Mrs. Hazel Hill, Chicago; and Ray Misener, Davenport, Iowa, and seven grandchildren. One son, Lester, preceded his father in death.

The pall bearers who assisted at the funeral of Van Misener last Wednesday were: Melvin Tennis, Martin Evenson, Ted Salter, George Mayville, Wm. Schultz and A. Messer of Spencer.
Those in charge of the flowers were: Mrs. Gilbert Wiedenhoeft, Mrs. Ted Salter, Mrs. Martin Evenson and Mrs. Melvin Tennis.
Relatives from away who attended the services were Mr. and Mrs. Ray Misener and family, Walworth; Warren Misener, Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. A. N. Salter, and Mrs. Gene Coaty, Marshfield, Mrs. John Peterson, Neillsville; and Mrs. Eric Forrest, Portage.
