Flink, Betty Jane (Marriage - 31 May 1947)

At 2 o’clock Saturday, May 31, the Trinity Lutheran Church at Unity, Wisconsin was the scene of the wedding of Miss Betty Jane Flink, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Flink, Unity, and Clifford B. Schweke, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Schweke, Spencer. The altar was adorned with flowers, and Miss LaVon Domer and Wayne Salter sang, "I Love You Truly’ and "Because." The Rev. J. A. Olson officiated.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a white wedding gown. The bodice of lace fit snugly and the full organdy skirt was bouffant and ended in a deep ruffle. The sleeves were bracelet length. Orange blossoms held her appliquéd finger tip veil of illusion and she carried white lilies and was tied with white satin streamers. Her pearls were a gift from the groom.

Miss Elaine Domer, Stevens Point, in white nylon dotted swiss made with a sweetheart neckline and full skirt was maid of honor. Mrs. Donald Prehn, Spencer, a sister of the groom, and Mrs. Norman Uecker, Milwaukee, a cousin of the bride, dressed like Miss Domer, were bridesmaids. All carried white carnations tied with white satin bows and wore flowers in their hair.

Elmer Bruss, Spencer, a cousin of the groom, Donald Prehn, Spencer, and Norman Uecker, Milwaukee, attended the groom.

Mrs. Flink, the bride’s mother, wore a rose suit-dress with black accessories. The bridegroom’s mother was attired in a dark dress and matching accessories. Both had corsages of roses.

Covers were laid for 100 guests at a five o’clock dinner to be served in the church basement decorated with white streamers and wedding bells. A three tier wedding cake topped with a miniature bride and groom ornament, lighted candles and white flowers formed the centerpiece at the table. Preceding the dinner, a reception was held at the Flink home and in the evening a dance was given at Walters Pavilion at Colby.

When the bride left on her honeymoon she wore a white linen taileur with white and rose accessories.

After a week’s wedding trip to Wisconsin Dells and Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs. Schweke will live east of Spencer where the bridegroom is engaged in farming. Mrs. Schweke was graduated from the Unity, Wis. High School in 1944 and attended the Electronic, Radio and Television Institute at Minneapolis before she became a teletype operator at Chicago and later Stevens Point. Mr. Schweke was graduated from the Spencer High School in 1941.

Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Herman Uecker, Mr. and Mrs. William Dallman, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Flink, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Flink, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Dallman, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Coaty, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Ewert, Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. William Flink, Minneapolis; Mr. and Mrs. John Peterson, Shirley and Donna Rae, Neillsville; Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Rinehardt, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Schweke, Mr. and Mrs. John Zettl, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Schulz, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Al Schweke, Ladysmith; Mr. and Mrs. John Voelker, Marshfield; Wayne Salter, Stevens Point; Mr. and Mrs. Gust Tank, Butternut; Mr. and Mrs. Art Zettler, Nekoosa; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Benike, Wauwatosa; Herman Ewert, Tripoli; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Obernberger, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Tesmer, Athens.
