Funeral services for Mrs. Hattie E. Travis, whose death occurred March 27th, were held at the M. E. Church Saturday afternoon, Rev. F. C. Fahlgren officiating. Humbird Chapter O. E. S., of which the deceased had been a member for many years, gave its burial rites at the church. Interment was in the Houghtonburg Cemetery in the family lot, beside her father, mother, and four brothers. Many old friends assembled for the last services of their departed neighbor and friend.
Hattie E. Terrell, second child of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Terrell, was born Aug. 29, 1859, in the town of Merrimac, Sauk County, Wisconsin. At the age of four years came to Garden Valley, Jackson County, and there lived with her parents, until she went to Humbird to live more than forty years ago. On Feb. 21, 1906, she was united in marriage with Mr. C. B. Travis, of Humbird. Mr. Travis died March 5, 1928. In 1908, Mrs. Travis united with the Methodist Episcopal Church in Humbird, of which she was a faithful member.
On the 29th of last October she suffered a stroke, while at the home of her sister, from which she never rallied, and after five months of patient suffering passed to her reward, march 27, 1935, aged 75 years, 6 months and 28 days.
She leaves one sister, Mrs. Lois Dunn, and a brother George, who still live on the home farm of her childhood, and also a brother, Oren, of Alma Center. A number of other relatives also mourn her death.
