Domer, Lyla (Marriage - 30 May 1945)
Miss Lyla Domer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Domer of town of Unity, and Sgt. Robert M. Burke, son of Mrs. Ed. Burke of Milwaukee, were united in marriage in the rectory of St. Anthony’s church at Wauwatosa on May 30 at 3 p.m. by the Rev. Joseph DeMaria, the double ring ceremony being used.
The bride was gowned in a frock of white lace and net, the skirt of which was trimmed with ruffles and white satin lovers knots swept out into a long train. Her finger tip veil of illusion fell from a tiara of orange blossoms and she carried an arm bouquet of white roses and feverfew centered with a white orchid. Her jewelry, a gold cross necklace and a gold watch, were gifts of the groom. Attendants were Miss Ramona Domer of Marshfield, a sister of the bride, and Mrs. Mary Granback, a sister of the groom. They wore identical frocks of pink. Their sweetheart lockets were gifts of the bride and they carried arm bouquets of pink carnations. The bridegroom, who recently returned from three years service overseas in the Pacific theater of operations, was attended by Alvin Gryski and Richard Colby, the latter, a brother-in-law of the bride.
For her daughter’s wedding, Mrs. Domer was attired in a gray suit and the groom’s mother wore a black sheer ensemble. Both had corsages of white carnations and feverfew. After the ceremony members of the immediate family were entertained at dinner at the Lippert home where the bride had been employed for the past ? years. A three-tiered wedding cake and white candles adorned the table. The bridal couple departed on a honeymoon spent at the lakes and on June 5 Sgt. Burke returned to his base in North Carolina and Mrs. Burke resumed her duties in Milwaukee. Guests from away were Mr. and Mrs. William Domer of Unity; Miss Ramona Domer and Russell Bruhn of Marshfield and Mrs. Dan Owens of Beloit.
