Baumgartner, Lena R. (Marriage - July 1936)

A beautiful wedding was solemnized last Tuesday morning at eight in St. John’s Reformed and Evangelical church, when Miss Lena R. Baumgartner, twin daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. B. Baumgartner, became the bride of Rev. John M. Michael, formerly of Humbird, now of Hudson, Indiana. The church was simply decorated with evergreens, roses, and orange blossoms. Rev. David Grether, of Decatur, Ind., former pastor of the St. John’s Church, officiated at the double ring ceremony.

The bride wore a gown of opal ivory satin and a coronet veil of lace-trimmed French tulle. She carried a bridal bouquet of Talisman and pale yellow Hill roses. She was attended by her twin sister, Mrs. Victor Weidler, who wore a gown of lilac lace and carried a bouquet of pink roses. Two little flowers girls, Genevieve and Betty Joyce Theiler, spread rose petals in the path of the bride.

The groom wore a suit of oxford gray, and was attended by Rev. Victor Weidler.

As the church bell rang out the news of the joyous event. Miss Eileen Creviston played the Lohengrin wedding march. Preceding the meditation, Mrs. Will Theiler sang, "O, Promise Me," and "Ah, Sweet Mystery of Life," at the close she sang, "I Love You Truly."

Immediately following the ceremony, a reception for relatives and close friends was held at the home of the bride’s parents. Out of town guests at the wedding included Mr. and Mrs. Robert Heiple of Green Lake; Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Baumgartner of Eau Claire; Mr. and Mrs. Vern Anderson of Osseo; Mrs. Adolph Weilder of Decatur, Ind., and Rev. David Grether and family of Decatur, Ind.

The bride is a graduate of Humbird High School and holds a Ph. B. degree from Ripon College. For the past three years she has been a successful teacher in our local high school and for many years an esteemed member of our community. The groom is the youngest son of Postmaster John Michael; is a graduate of Humbird High School and also of the Mission House College and theological seminary at Plymouth. Since March, 1935, he has held the pastorate at Hudson, Ind.

The young couple will spent their honeymoon visiting relatives and friends in Northern Wisconsin and camping in the lake region before returning to "the manse" at Hudson, Ind., where they will be at home to their friends after July 15th.

A host of friends extend congratulations and sincere wishes for many years of happiness and service.
