Colby - Services for Marion Louise Mellenthin, 69, who died at 6:42 p.m. Sunday at her home in rural Unity, Clark County, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Zion Lutheran Church, Colby.
The Rev. Mark Neumann will officiate. Burial will be in Colby Memorial Cemetery. Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be at Maurina Funeral Home, Abbotsford, from 6-9 tonight, and then at the church from 10 a.m. until service time, Wednesday. Members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary No. 2227 will attend as an honor guard and will have services at 8 tonight at the funeral home.
She was born Sept. 2, 1922, in the town of Colby, to Edwin and Lydia (Schumann) Frome. She graduated from Colby, Wis. High School and attended beauty school in Appleton. She was married to Gordon Mellenthin June 12, 1944, at Zion Lutheran Church.
She owned and operated Marion’s Beauty Salon in Colby and was co-owner of the Gor-Mar Department Store in Colby. She retired in 1987.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and was president of the Ladies Aid. She was also a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary No. 2227 and was vice president of AAL Branch 1235.
Survivors include her husband, two sons, Danne of Colby and Dale of Freeport, Ill.; three brothers, Edwin Frome Jr. of Cecil; Glen Frome of Crandon and William Frome of Colby; one sister, Mrs. Donald (Lennice) Barr of Sun Prairie; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents, one daughter, Dawn Mellenthin, one brother and one sister.
Memorials may be given in her name to Zion Lutheran Church and St. Joseph’s Hospital Hospice Care Unit, Marshfield.
