Griepentrog, Elmer August (27 Aug. 1907 - 17 Aug. 1993)

Spencer, Wis. - Services for Elmer August Griepentrog, 85, rural Spencer, who died Tuesday night at his home, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Community Funeral Home, Spencer.

The Rev. William Ruhbusch of Trinity Lutheran Church, Spencer, will officiate. Burial will be in Colby Memorial Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Randy Schade, Joey and Jeremy Kilty, Roger and Kevin Martens and Dave Freeman. Honorary pallbearers will be Donald Schwantes, Ernie Pupp, Arnold Bruesewitz, Guy Weidman, Jerry Anderson and Elroy Luepke.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at the funeral home with a prayer service at 6 tonight.

He was born Aug. 27, 1907, in Spencer, to the late Fred and Ida (Schroeder) Griepentrog. He received his education in the town of Brighton. He married Adeline M. Verch May 28, 1932 in Spencer.

He worked for the Farmer’s Co-op in Spencer for 35 years and also farmed in the town of Brighton until retiring. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Bernadine Schade of Colby and Carol Boge of Medford; one brother, Ray "Stub" Griepentrog of Spencer; one step-sister, Caroline Greenwald of Spencer; two step-brothers, Donald and Eugene Griepentrog, both of Spencer; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was predeceased by one son.
