Kilty, Myrtle (5 Aug. 1915 - 30 May 1931)

Myrtle Kilty, age sixteen, of Unity, died at the Medford clinic Saturday evening as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Highway 64, west of Medford, Friday while returning from a school picnic at Lake Esadore. Her brother, Melvin Kilty, who graduated from the Unity, Wis. High School last Thursday and who was driving the car when it hit a culvert as a result of being crowded too far to the side of the road by another car, escaped minor injuries. It is reported that he was driving at a high rate of speed. Miss Mayme Bondow of Colby was also riding in the Kilty car and also escaped with minor bruises. Other occupants in the car were Miss Schulte and Mr. Kuehling. The three injured were immediately taken to the Medford clinic for treatment.

Miss Kilty received a deep laceration on her leg which became infected with gas baccilus causing her death.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Lutheran church at Unity, Rev. Olson officiating, and internment was made in the Unity cemetery.

Note: Myrtle’s date of birth is from the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery - Unity index on this site.
