Grubb, Frank S. Mrs. (27 May 1869 - 11 Oct. 1931)

Mrs. Frank S. Grubb of Stanley, a sister of Mrs. Emma Zillmer and Miss Rena Bauer of Colby, died at the St. Joseph’s Hospital in Chippewa Falls on Sunday, October 11th, which was quite a shock to her many friends in Stanley although an operation, ten days earlier, had revealed that her case was hopeless.

She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Bauer and was born in Weyauwega on May 27, 1869. She was married in 1890 to Frank S. Grubb, who survives her, and in 1897 they took up their residence in Stanley. Four children were born to them, Walter, deceased; Margaret, (Mrs. Donald Francis), Milwaukee; Rena, Waukesha; and Arthur, Milwaukee. She is also survived by five sisters, Mrs. Laura Mackmiller, Ashland; Mrs. Henry Uttormark, Marion; Mrs. Emma Zillmer, Colby; Miss Rena Bauer, Colby; and Miss Hulda Bauer, Weyauwega; and two brothers, F. W. Bauer, Weyauwega; and Irving Bauer, Fremont.

She gave unselfishly of her talents, her time, her strength to service on the library board, in the church, in the clubs, in the activities of war time and all that she did was well done. As a wife and mother, she was at her best and her greatest heritage to the world is a splendid family. Of surpassing personal charm she graced any position to which she was called and leaves only pleasant memories in the hearts of those who were privileged to know her.

Funeral services were conducted from the Presbyterian church at Stanley on Wednesday, October 14th.

*** Note: From the 1880 Federal Census for Weyauwega, Waupaca County, Wisconsin, it looks like Mrs. Grubb’s first name was Louisa.
