Mantor, Myron D. (23 Oct. 1858 - 13 May 1932)

Myron D. Mantor, a prominent farmer of northeast of Colby, near Riverside, died at the Wausau Memorial hospital Friday afternoon, May 13th, at 5:00 p.m. following an appendicitis operation. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Presbyterian church at Abbotsford, Rev. L C. Smith officiating, and internment was made in the Colby cemetery. The pall bearers were Horace Hurlbut, Howard Merwin, Emil Butzlaff, Howard Cendt, Lester Cendt, and Harold Merwin. The flower girls were Mrs. Ben Merwin, Mrs. Roy Lowe, Mrs. Sherman Harrop, Georgia Fitz, Ruth Ingesoll. Viola Marsh.

The deceased was born in Winneconne on October 23, 1858, thus reaching the age of seventy-three years, seven months and twenty days. He was married to Nora Cross in Winneconne Nov. 16, 1898, to which union five children were born, all of whom were present at the funeral services. Mr. and Mrs. Mantor came to this locality twenty-nine years ago.

Besides his wife, he leaves his five children, namely: Mrs. Norman Marsh, Colby; Mrs. C. E. Kreger, Milwaukee; Margaret Mantor, Crystal Lake, Illinois; Elta Mantor, Clintonville; Morris Mantor. Also one brother and two sisters: Martin Mantor, Berlin, Wisconsin; Mrs. George Cendt, Abbotsford; Mrs. James Hurlbut, Oshkosh.

The out of town people here for the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Roy Hough and Mrs. Margaret Cross, Hortonville; Mrs. and Mrs. James Hurlbut, and son, Horace, Oshkosh; Mr. Martin Mantor, Berlin, Wisconsin; Mr. and Mrs. Ira Hough, Larsen, Wisconsin; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Cross, Allenville; Mr. and Mrs. Nels Christensen, Bear Creek; Mr. C. C. Allen, and grandson, Clarence, Mrs. Bert Hough and Mrs. Chas. Hough, Oshkosh; Mrs. Frank Clark, Winneconne; Mr. and Mrs. Claude Hough, Stratford; Mrs. Arthur Minto and Mrs. Laura Blair, Eau Claire; Mr. and Mrs. Lester Cendt, Marshfield; Mrs. Nellie Hilbert, Eau Claire; Mr. and Mrs. Howard Cendt and children, Wausau; Mr. and Mrs. Emil Butzlaff and Betty, Wausau.

His daily life was an example to all. Diligently and lovingly, he met the various responsibilities of husband and father in a pleasant and cheerful way, making no enemies but counting all his friends. Many lives will be lived better because of his life. A noble life has gone to his reward.
