Atkins, Genevieve (Marriage - 25 June 1932)

A very pretty wedding took place at the Zion’s Lutheran church at Stratford last Saturday afternoon, Rev. T. Diemer reading the marriage ceremony, when Miss Genevieve Atkins, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Atkins of Colby, became the bride of Mr. Hilton Rusch, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Rusch of Stratford. Miss Ruth Marvin of Greenwood acted as maid of honor and Miss Erma Redetzke, cousin of the groom, was bridesmaid. The groom was attended by Lawrence Hanke of the town of Stettin and Clarence Atkins, a brother of the bride.

The bride was attired in a beautiful dress of silk flat crepe, ankle length, with a lace veil held in place by a headdress of pearls and carried a bouquet of roses and sweet William. The maid of honor wore pink organdy, ankle length, while the bridesmaid wore maline over orchid satin. Both wore headbands and accessories to match their frocks. Their corsage bouquets consisted of roses.

After the ceremony, a reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents, covers for twelve being laid at a five o’clock dinner. The home was nicely decorated with pink and white streamers and garden flowers for the occasion. In the evening, a free wedding dance was given at Cherokee hall which was largely attended by friends and relatives.

Mr. and Mrs. Rusch will make their home on the groom’s farm at Stratford.
