Minarik, Joseph J. (7 Feb. 1890 - 23 Aug. 1932)

Funeral services for Joseph J. Minarik of Chicago, who had been visiting at the home of his father in law, Ervin Sheldon, near Unity, were held at the St. Mary’s Catholic church Friday morning, Rev. Leo Land officiating, and burial was made in the Brighton cemetery under the auspices of the Legion post of Unity. The deceased, age 42, passed away August 23 at the Marshfield hospital from lockjaw which resulted from a splinter he got in his hand two weeks previously and which was not thought serious until August 20 when he began to feel ill. He was taken to the hospital the following day. Mr. Minarik was formerly employed as a bookkeeper in a Chicago bank, but, while he was visiting near Unity on his vacation, the bank closed. He is survived by his wife and parents, who live in Unity.

*** Note: Mr. Minarik’s date of birth is from the Brighton cemetery index on this site, but in that list his surname is spelled as Menarik.
