Monness, Ed #2 (28 Jul 1924 - 30 Jun 2007)

Ed Monness, 83, Colby, died Saturday, June 30th, 2007, at his home.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 4th, at Zion Lutheran Church, Colby and from 1 p.m. until time of services at the church on Thursday.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 5th, at Zion Lutheran Church, Colby. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Unity. The Reverend Mark Neumann will preside.

Ed was born July 28th, 1924, to Alvin and Laura Monness. He received his education in the Chetek area.

He was raised in the Chetek area and entered the service from 1945-1946 and served in the South Pacific as a teletype operator.

Ed and Lois Moeller were married July 30th, 1955, in Illinois. He farmed in Illinois and worked as a carpenter and contractor.

The moved to Colby in 1971 and farmed until he retired in 1984. Ed and Lois built a new home on the farm property.

Ed was a member of Zion Lutheran Church where he served as an usher, an elder and was on the Board of Church Property.

He is survived by his wife Lois, Colby; his children Danita Monness, Guffey, CO, Kenneth (Brenda) Monness, Unity and William Monness, Colby; two grandchildren and three sisters, Lucille (Marvin) Kilty, Colby, Ellen Altizer, Vienna, WV and Joyce Sparks, Lynchburg, TN. Ed was preceded in death by his parents.

Maurina-Community Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
