Johnson, Frederick (31 Jan. 1845 - 23 Feb. 1934)

Frederick Johnson passed away at his home in the town of Green Grove Friday, February 23, a heart attack and old age being the cause of his departure. Funeral services were held at the Johnson home Tuesday, Rev. W. L. Anderson of Curtiss officiating and internment was made in the Green Grove cemetery. The pall bearers were John Miller, Joe Miller, Ernest Rahn, John Untiedt, John Scheer and Albert Raatz. The flower girls were Josephine Stowe, Elvina Gottschalk and Florence Stowe, all grand children.

The deceased was born in Sweden January 31st, 1845, thus reaching the age of eighty-nine years and twenty-three days. He came to the United States in 1866, coming directly to Wisconsin. He was married to Elsie Olson at Rhinelander May 10th, 1890, to which union four children were born, three of whom survive besides his widow, namely: Mrs. Rufus Stowe, Unity; Oscar Johnson, of Colby; Mrs. Wm. Gottschalk, Colby. Also twelve grand children. He came to this locality in 1898.

The deceased is numbered among the early pioneers of this section, who, by hard and diligent work, helped to build up this country. He was of a congenial and hospitable disposition and had a kind and friendly greeting for all.
