Schuster, Louis (1861? - 1 Nov. 1886)

Schuster - At the residence of his parents, Monday, Nov. 1, 1886, at 3 a.m., Louis Schuster, aged 25 years.

Louis was a young man universally respected. His unassuming and gentlemanly ways endeared him to his large acquaintance. He had held the office of city clerk ever since the city was organized, up to last spring, when his failing health compelled him to decline another term as such officer. Last spring he made a trip to the west and south in search of health, but that relentless destroyer, consumption, had too firm a hold on his system to be shaken off, and he returned home only to linger awhile with those who loved him best, and with the falling autumn leaves to sink quietly and peacefully into that everlasting sleep. He was cheerful and hopeful to the last, and although for many weeks the hope for his ultimate recovery was given up by his family, yet they were not prepared for so sudden a change as took place in the small hours of that night.

Louis’ life was a blessing to his parents, brothers and sisters and acquaintances. His life was full of examples which could be safely copied by the young men of his acquaintance with benefit to themselves and to society. He was trusted in society and in public life. As a friend he was steadfast. He possessed the ability to discern the right, and courage to do right in every position in which he was placed. He will ever be remembered as one of the brightest ornaments of Neillsville society and business life.
