Glenzer, Reuben #2 (3 Apr. 1908 - 30 Sept. 1934)

Reuben Glenzer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Glenzer of the town of Green Grove, passed away at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, September 30th, lobar pneumonia being the cause of his departure to the distant shore. Funeral services will be held this Thursday afternoon at St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran church at Green Grove, Rev. M. C. Goetsch officiating, and internment will be made in the parish cemetery.

The deceased was born in the town of Green Grove on April 3, 1908, thus reaching the age of twenty-six years, five months and twenty-seven days. He was a graduate of the Abbotsford, Wis. High school, graduating in 1926. He was married to Miss Rose Zubin of Withee on September 1, 1934, who survives him as well as his parents, and one sister, Mrs. Joseph Jansen of Chicago.

The deceased was well and favorably known in Green Grove, Curtiss and Colby as he pitched baseball for Curtiss and Colby for several years and his ability in this sport was widely known. He had a host of friends, especially among baseball fans, who are sorry to learn of his untimely departure to the heavenly goal.

Funeral services for Reuben Glenzer, age twenty-six, whose death was chronicled last week, were held last Thursday afternoon at the St. Paul’s Lutheran church at Green Grove, Rev. M. C. Goetsch officiating, and internment was made in the parish cemetery. A quartet composed of Mrs. Theodore Thompson, Mrs. Agnes Rued, John Lokken and John Erickson sang "Abide With Me," "Come Unto Me" and "Some Day We’ll Understand." Mrs. M. C. Goetsch accompanied at the piano. Cousins of the deceased, Fred, Hubert, Harold, Walter and Ronald Glenzer, acted as pall bearers. The flower girls were Ruth Sommer, Eileen Sommer, Grace Dietrich, Bernice Dietrich, Marion Dietrich, Leona Sommer, Elaine Kademan, Bernita Bahn and Geraldine Bahn.

The deceased was born April 3, 1908, in the town of Green Grove where he grew to manhood. He attended the Abbotsford, Wis. High school and graduated with the class of 1927. He was married to Miss Rose Marie Zubin of Withee on Sept. 1st, 1934. He is survived by his widow, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Glenzer, and two sisters, Mrs. Joseph Janda of Chicago and Mrs. Raymond Miller of Stevens Point.

Petty, all of Stevens Point, Miss Ida Miller of Oshkosh, Mr. August Glenzer of Kaukauna, Mr. and Mrs. John McLaughlin, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Nedley, Mrs. Hans Hennlich, Miss Alice McLaughlin, all of Milwaukee, Rev. August Sommer and Mr. Milbauer of Detroit, Mich., Mrs. George Newman of Plymouth, Mrs. Leo Laack of Brillion, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Olm of Waldo, Mr. Ferdinand Olm of Cleveland, Wis., Mr. John Zubin. Harry Zubin, Edward Zubin, Mr. and Mrs. Emil Niemi and Lawrence Hansen, all of Withee, Mr. Albert Zubin of Minneapolis, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Sommer of Spencer, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Conrad of New London and Mr. and Mrs. R. Heyer of Wausau.

The deceased was a very industrious young man of a very congenial disposition and friendship’s circle to him was a large one which was testified by the large attendance at the funeral services, reported to be one of the largest funerals ever held at the Green Grove church.
