Kanter, Norman (1925? - 10 Feb. 1936)
Funeral services were held Thursday morning at St. Mary’s church for the eleven year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Kanter.
The Angel of Death called a fifth grade pupil from St. Mary’s school - the fair young life of a dear classmate, Norman Kanter, whose death occurred on Monday, February 10th.
Norman’s school career came to an abrupt close when a short illness confined him to his bed. Death came most unexpectedly. He was ambitious, studious and obedient. As a cheerful and uncomplaining child he has endeared himself in the hearts of his classmates who keenly feel his loss. As a member of the Holy Childhood of Jesus Society he was zealous and pious.
The pall-bearers, chose from among his little friends were: Donald Becker, Andrew Sukup, David Steiber, Emanuel Firnstahl, Gerald Firnstahl, and Antone Rueden. The flower girls were: Jean Feit, Evonna Allain, Margie Allain, Mary Engeldinger, Teresa Caron, Mary Franz and Virginia Firnstahl.
He is not dead - the child of our affections - But gone unto that school Where he no longer needs our poor protection, And God Himself doth rule. In that great cloister’s stillness and seclusion, By guardian angels led, Safe from temptation, safe from sin’s pollution, He lives, whom we call dead.
