Okonski, Joseph (19 MAR 1879 - 12 JUL 1937)

Joseph Okonski, a town of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) farmer, died of heart trouble from which he had been suffering for some time, on Monday, July 12, 1937, aged fifty-eight years.

Deceased was born in Poland on March 19, 1879 and arrived in America about forty years ago and resided for a time in Jersey City, N.J. and Chicago, and Oct. 22, 1922 came to Thorp. In November 1922 he was united in marriage with Celia Lewandowski of Thorp.

On the evening of his death he went to the pasture to tie up a bull and was found in the field about eight o’clock the next morning.

Deceased is survived by his wife, Mrs. Celia Okonski, three sons, John, Charlie and Carl Okonski; two stepsons, Charlie and Eddie Janeck, Chicago; three daughters, Marie Wisz, Sophie Schmay, Wanda Okonski; three step-daughters, Helen Gaedell, Sophie Czub, Pauline Klak, Chicago, and one sister, Pauline Dumbeck, Chicago.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday morning, July 16th at 10 o’clock at St. Hedwig’s Church, Father F.A. Kulig officiating, with interment in the nearby parish cemetery.

Pallbearers were: J. Pogodzinski, F. Dobiesz, B. Wynimko, J. Staszkowski, L. Konieczny and Louis Ciolkosz.
