Messer, Ansel Edward (17 Aug. 1913 - 12 Dec. 1991)

Unity, Wis. - Ansel Edward Messer, 78, Unity, died Thursday evening at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Unity, with the Rev. Brian Jaye officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Leo Bloom, Corwin Dallmann, Leon Jost, Steve Justman, Howard Frane and Del Vesely.

Visitation will be at Rux Funeral Home, Colby, after 4 p.m., Saturday.

He was born Aug. 17, 1913, in Unity, to Ernest and Anna (Dietel) Messer. He was a graduate of Unity, Wis. High School. He married Myrl Justman July 22, 1939, at Trinity Lutheran Church.

He farmed in the town of Unity until 1970. He then served as postmaster in Unity, until retiring in 1981.

He was a member of the National Guard and served on the Colby School Board at the time of the consolidation. He was also a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and served on its council for many years.

He is survived by his wife; one son, Robert K. of Oshkosh; two daughters, Mrs. Warren (Marilyn J.) Brewer of Sheboygan and Mrs. James (Barbara J.) Coutley of West Bend; two sisters, Myra Evenson of Cody, Wyo., and Gladys Loughead of Fort Myers, Fla.; and two granddaughters.

He was predeceased by his parents, two brothers and one sister.
