Osowski, Joseph (18 JAN 1856 - 7 JUL 1938)
Joseph Osowski, a resident of this community (Thorp, Clark Co., Wis.) sinc 1905, passed away at his farm home in the town of Withee of old age infirmities, on Thursday evening, July 7th, 1938, having been ailing for the past three months.
Mr. Osowski was born in Osowo, Poland, on Jan. 18, 1856, and had reached the age of 82 years, 5 months and 19 days. He was married to Pauline Dettmer on Jan. 19, 1885, at Lubickow, Poland. Two years later he came to America with his family and located in Milwaukee where he lived for eighteen years. On Nov. 4, 1905, he arrived in Thorp and became engaged in farming, which occupation he followed until death.
Surviving relatives are his widow, Mrs. Pauline Osowski, five sons, Vincent, Casimer and John, of Thorp, Louis of Ottawa, Ill., and Frank of Milwaukee; five daughters, Anna and Clara at home, Mrs. Felix (Mary) Donash and Mrs. Anthony (Rose) Balicki of Chicago, and Mrs. Anthony (Helen) Kotecki of Milwaukee, two brothers, John and Vincent, and two sisters, Mrs. Francis Machonikowski and Mrs. Rose Filcek, in Poland, thirty grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at St. Hedwig’s Church at 9:30 o’clock on Monday morning, Rev. F.A. Kulig officiating, assisted by Rev. Francis E. Wallace of Stanley, and Rev. Jos. Rapala, Lublin. Interment was made in St. Hedwig’s Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Anton Stroinski, August Wegner, Frank Neiman, Val Dobrzynski, John Nowobielski and Ignatz Przybylski.
Among those from out of town in attendance at the funeral of Joseph Osowski were: Mrs. Francis Dziengel, Mrs. Anthony Kotecki and daughter Dorothy, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Kusch, Mr. and mrs. Frank Osowski and daughter Bernadette, Mrs. Ralph Landowski, all of Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Louis Osowski and daughter Ellen and Gene Montero Stalli, of Ottawa, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Balicki and son Eugene, and Mrs. Felix Donash and Ruth and Joan, of Chicago, Ill.; Mr. and mrs. Lawrence Fritsch of Spencer.
