Jerome L. "Jerry" Shupe, 71, Stratford, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, passed away on Tuesday on Tuesday, July 31, 2007, at his home. Memorial services were held at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, Aug. 7, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Loyal. The Rev. Roman Kaiser officiated. Interment was in St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery, Loyal.
Jerome Lawrence Shupe was born to Lee and Verna (nee Domine) Shupe, on Oct. 7, 1935, and lived in the Loyal and Marshfield areas all his life. He attended Loyal Public Schools until entering the Navy in 1947, serving in the Great Lakes area. He was a lifetime truck driver for several area trucking companies until retiring. He was an avid card player and an enthusiastic fan of the Green Bay Packers and enjoyed having a beer with friends. He married Joan M. Nelson on Dec. 28, 1955, and they later divorced. He was blessed with a very special and caring friend, Lila Polivka, Stratford, for the last several years.
He is survived and will be greatly missed by seven children, Ann (Thomas) Burns, Eau Claire, Pamela (special friend David McFarlane) Djubenski, Greenwood, Donna Eslinger, Stanley, Daniel Shupe, Auburndale, Randal Shupe, Eau Claire, Kathy Ganong, Black River Falls, and Stella (Kevin) Steinke, Osseo; a sister, Mary Ann(Toots) Primc, Marshfield; 16 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends in the area.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his best friend and sister, Evelyn Syth, and a sister, JoAnne M. Shupe, in infancy; brothers, Edward, Lawrence (Toby), and Donald Shupe; and one grandson, Christopher T. Djubenski.
Caring and compassionate arrangements were provided to the family by Cuddie Funeral Home, Loyal.
