Pokallus, Louise (6 Nov. 1870 - 27 Jan. 1937)

Mrs. Carl Pokallus passed away at a Madison hospital at 9:20 A.M. Tuesday, Jan. 27th, pneumonia and complications being the cause of her departure to the distant shore. Funeral services will be held at Zion Lutheran church Sunday, Jan. 31st, and internment will be made in the Colby cemetery.

The deceased, whose maiden name was Louise Zimmerman, was born in East Prussia, Germany, Nov. 6th, in 1870, thus reaching the age of sixty-six years, two months and twenty days. She came to the United States in Dec. 1895, moving directly to Colby. She was married to Carl Pokallus in Colby Jan. 26, 1896, which union was blessed with seven children, all of whom survive, namely - Arthur of Colby, Albert of Abbotsford, Henry of Spencer, Mrs. Walter Kobs of Chicago, Mrs. E. Lagerquist of Chicago, Mrs. L. Priem of Colby and Mrs. Aug. Nagel of Colby. Her death is also mourned by three step children - Emil Pokallus of Colby, Mrs. G. Wiedenhoeft of Colby and Paul Pokallus of Colby and a sister, Mrs. Aug. Hippler of Fifield. Her husband died in December, 1932.

The deceased was a faithful member of the Zion Lutheran church and Ladies’ Aid of that congregation. She was congenial and helpful in her ways, always considering the welfare of her family before her own comforts.

Funeral services for Mrs. Carl Pokallus were held at Zion Lutheran church last Sunday afternoon, Rev. O. Hoffmann officiating, and internment was made in the Colby cemetery. Pall bearers were Chas. Feind, Paul Draeger, Chas. Allmann, John Engeldinger, Chas. Lindner and Chas. Beawer. Flower girls were Lucille Pokallus and Allene Priem.

Out of town people here for the funeral services were Mrs. Walter Kobs of Chicago, Mrs. Egert Lagerquist of Chicago. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Pokallus of Abbotsford, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Pokallus of Spencer, Mrs. Aug. Hippler and son, Bernard, of Fifield, Mrs. Ernest Erickson of Ashland, Mr. Orval Moore of Park Falls and Miss Delores Splittspoeser of Fifield.
