Rohr, Fern (30 OCT 1937)

A very beautiful afternoon wedding was solemnized last Saturday at 4:30 o’clock at St. Katherine’s Church when Miss Fern Rohr, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Rohr of Owen (Clark Co., Wis.), was united in wedlock to Vernon Rigg, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Rigg of Withee. Father Ortmayer performing the ceremony.

Miss Joyce Barager, long time friend and former classmate of the bride was the maid of honor, and Mrs. Wayne Rigg, sister in law of the bride, was bridesmaid.

Myron Duncan sang, "Because."

The bridal couple was preceded down the aisle of the church by ushers, Albert Schulze and James Barager, who were attired in dark suits and wearing a yellow rose in the lapel of their coats. They were followed by the bridesmaid, Mrs. Wayne Rigg, wearing a gown of burgundy velvet, she carried a bouquet of chrysanthemums and pop poms. She preceded Miss Joyce Barager, maid of honor, who was dressed in a floor length gown of coral brocaded velvet of princess style with gold accessories, and a headdress of coral velvet. She carried a bouquet of chrysanthemums and pom poms. The bride and her father, who gave her in marriage, followed.

The bride’s gown was of white brocaded transparent velvet with a short train of princess style, a long tulle and lace veil with cornet headdress of seed pearls and white sandals. She carried a shower bouquet of talisman roses and white chrysanthemums.

The groom and best man, Wayne Rigg, wore oxford gray suits and a yellow rose boutonnière.

Mrs. William Rohr, mother of the bride, wore a wine crepe dress with matching accessories, and a corsage of yellow and white pom poms. The mother of the groom, Mrs. Clarence Rigg was dressed in a gown of green crepe with matching accessories and a corsage of yellow and white pom poms.

After the service a reception was held in the community hall for 70 guests, followed by a dance.

The couple are now enjoying a week’s trip through the southern part of Wisconsin and Illinois. They will be at home after Monday, Nov. 8.

Out of town guests attending were: Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Rigg and son and Miss Florence Rigg and son and Miss Florence Rigg of Minneapolis; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Rohr, Misses Sally and Elaine Rohr, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer St. Clair, Mr. and Mrs. Art Sala and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Braatz, Mr. and Mrs. George Rohr, Mrs. Julius Rohr of Wausau; Miss Jessie Rigg of Madison; Harry Sala, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Sala and Mr. and Mrs. William Sala of Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. B. Esselman of Athens; Dr. and Mrs. Christofferson of Colby; and Miss Mae Price of Merrill.
