Bennett, Florence Elizabeth (Marriage - 12 Apr. 1937)

A very pretty wedding was solemnized at the Methodist Episcopal church at Unity at high noon Monday, April 12th, Rev. C. Paul Nulton reading the marriage ceremony, when Miss Florence Elizabeth Bennett, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bennett of Unity, R. 2, became the bride of Mr. Donald Wesley Smart, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Smart of Colby. Edna Olive Bennett, sister of the bride, acted as bridesmaid and the groom was attended by Albert Jeske. Darrell Maxey, the groom’s nephew, acted as ring bearer.

The bride was attired in a beautiful formal dress of white satin with long veil. Her bouquet consisted of sweet peas, yellow roses, carnations, baby breath with green. The bridesmaid wore a long peach colored taffeta formal dress and her bouquet consisted of pink roses, white carnations and sweet peas with green. The ring bearer wore a white satin suit and carried a white satin pillow with sweet peas.

A reception was given at the home of the bride’s parents, covers being laid for thirty-five at a 2:00 o’clock dinner. The residence was nicely decorated with pink, yellow and white streamers of crepe paper for the occasion.

The young couple will reside on a farm east of Colby, Wis.

The groom is a graduate of Colby, Wis. High school. The bride is a graduate of Unity, Wis. High school, and attended one semester at the county normal at Wausau. They will make a trip to south-eastern Canada next summer.
