Fitzel, Mary M. (Marriage - 15 Sept. 1937)
A pretty fall wedding took place at the Immanuel’s Evangelical Lutheran church at Marshfield Wednesday September 15th, when marriage vows were exchanged by Miss Mary M. Fitzel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ferd. Wucherpfennig of Colby, and Elmer F. Schmidt of Marshfield, route three. Rev. G. M. Krueger read the marriage service.
The bride was attired in a gown of bright burgundy transparent velvet with silver colored accessories and a wrist corsage of rosebuds, and swansonia, and baby’s breath.
Miss Dorothy Olson, Colby, was maid of honor, and Miss Ruth LaLuzerene, Green Bay, cousin of the bridegroom, attended as bridesmaid. Both wore gowns of royal blue transparent velvet with silver accessories and wrist corsages similar to the bride’s. Ben Fitzel, Westby, a brother of the bride, attended the bridegroom as best man, and Henry J. Schmidt, West Bend, was his brother’s groomsman.
Following the ceremony a reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents in Colby, where a 5 o’clock supper was served to 65 guests. Blue and white streamers and a large silver wedding bell in the center of the room were used for decorations. Garden flowers and a wedding cake graced the table.
Out of town guests at the wedding and reception included the Rev. and Mrs. G. M. Krueger, Mrs. Victor Fischer and son, Victor, Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Adam Fitzel, Miss Sophie Beseler, Mrs. H. Guderian, Mrs. Theodore Kautze, all of Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. C. M. LaLuzerne and daughters, June and Patsy, and son, Richard, Green Bay; and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Reidel and sons, Clifford and Lloyd, Granton; Mr. and Mrs. G. J. Popp, Auburndale; Mrs. Elizabeth Panke and sons, Rudolph and Charles and daughters, Helen and Elizabeth, of Edgar; Mrs. Lee Grandt, Mrs. Earl Robertson and George Johnson of Stratford.
For the present Mr. Schmidt and his bride will reside with his parents on route 3, where he is engaged in farming. They will be at home to friends after Sept. 25th.
