Wicker, Ernest (1870 - 30 Dec. 1938)

Ernest Wicker of Watertown, a former resident of Colby, died Friday morning at a Watertown hospital of injuries received when he was struck by a car six weeks ago. Funeral services were held at Watertown and short services at the Lulloff funeral home in Colby Tuesday morning, Rev. L. J. Lang officiating, and burial was made in the Colby cemetery. Pall bearers were Fred Dix, Hugo Krepsky, K. Andrews, C. Joe Kraus, A. X. Umhoefer and Dr. H. H. Christofferson.

Mr. Wicker, a son of Mr. and Mrs. James Wicker, was born at Colby 67 years ago. After being employed as a lumber inspector for several years, he entered the Colby State Bank where he was employed as assistant cashier. From here, he and his family moved to Owen where he engaged in the insurance business. Some time ago he moved to Watertown where he was employed in a bank. He was married in 1902 at New Richmond to Mary Henry who survives him with one son, Robert Wicker, a petty officer on the USS Houston.

Out of town people here for the funeral were Miss Alice Henry of Madison, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Nelsen and daughter, Rosemary, of Wausau, Mrs. Inga Firnstahl of Marshfield, Dennis Sullivan of Fond du Lac, Miss Fanny Kugel of Menomonie, Mrs. Lottie Enman of Pardeeville and Dr. and Mrs. A. M. Christofferson of Waupaca.
