Kapusta, Irene May (November 12, 1920 - September 24, 2007)

Irene Kapusta, age 86, of Neillsville, died on Monday September 24, 2007 at the memorial Medical Center in Neillsville, Wis.

Irene May Selves was born on November 12, 1920 the daughter of Hugh and Bessie (rose) Selves on a farm east of the Court House in Neillsville, Wis. She graduated from Neillsville High School in 1939 then married Andrew Kapusta on November 19, 1939. They were divorced in 1959. Irene worked hard as a cleaning lady for many businesses and families in Neillsville for many years while raising her five children and putting them through school.

Irene was a member of the United Church of Christ in Neillsville, Wis. She enjoyed gardening and sewing and was well-known for her candy making.

She is survived by her children, Frank (Ann) Kapusta, of Sequin, TX; Martin Boren, of Bee Branch, AR; Bessie (Frank) Jensen, of Cadott, WI; John Kapusta, of St. Paul, MN; and Scot (Janet) Kapusta, of Neillsville; 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. She if further survived by two sisters, Vivian Halle, of Noblesville, IN; and Avis Martin of Mukwonago, WI.

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son; a grandson, Eric Jensen; a brother, Elliott (Mary) Selves; and sisters, Neva Porath and Mildred Ormond.

Funeral services for Irene will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, September 29, 2007 at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville, Wis. Pastor James Mohr will officiate. Providing music will be Eileen Zank, organist and Mya Rowe, soloist. Visitation will be held Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. and also Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Gesche Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be her grandchildren.
