Sommer, Ruth (Marriage - 10 June 1939)

A very pretty wedding was solemnized at St. Paul’s Lutheran church at Green Grove Saturday, June 10, at 2:30 P.M., Rev. M. C. Goetsch reading the marriage ceremony, when Miss Ruth Sommer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Theo. Sommer of Curtiss, became the bride of Elmer Schuette of Riplinger, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Schuette of Greenwood, Wis. This was a double ring ceremony. Eileen Sommer was maid of honor and Sylvia Schuette acted as bridesmaid. The groom was attended by Harley Hardrath as best man and Wesley Schwarze. During the ceremony the choir sang "O Perfect Love" and Adeline Goetsch sang a solo, "I Love You Truly." Miss Goetsch also played the bridal chorus from Lohingren as the bridal party entered the church. The church was decorated with cut flowers and white, peach and blue streamers.

The bride was attired in a beautiful gown of white lace over satin with a long train in princess lines with tiny buttons down the front and a finger tip veil with a crown of seed pearls, the veil being edged in wide lace. Her bouquet consisted of roses and sweet peas. The maid of honor wore a dress of peach taffeta with a lace veil to match with a crown of flowers with white accessories. Her corsage consisted of sweet peas. The bridesmaid wore a dress of blue taffeta with a face veil to match with a crown of blue flowers with silver accessories.

A reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents for immediate relatives, supper being served at five o’clock and lunch at midnight. The bride’s table was decorated with a large wedding cake as a center piece. The house was nicely decorated in peach, white and blue and with cut flowers. In the evening, a wedding dance was held at the Atwood hall.

The young couple plan on making a wedding trip later and will make their home at Riplinger, where the groom is a tavern keeper.

Out of town relatives here for the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. Otto Schuette of LaCrosse, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. Ray Sommer of Waupaca, Mr. and Mrs. Sylvan Sommer of Neenah and Mr. and Mrs. William Sommer of Neenah.
