Ohmen, Christine (3 DEC 1864 - 9 OCT 1938)
Mrs. Christine Ohmen died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Edward Witt, northeast of the village (Thorp, Clark Co., Wis.) on Sunday last, Oct. 9, 1938, having reached the age of 73 years. She had been suffering from diabetes for several years, and for some time past resided with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. E.J. Witt in the town of Withee.
Christine Engberg was born in Gutenberg, Sweden, on Dec. 3, 1864. She was joined in marriage to John Ohmen in 1885. They came to America in 1891 and settle in Thorp, where she has resided for the past 47 years. She was preceded in death by her husband many years ago.
Surviving are nine children, Mrs. Christine Tallman, Ladysmith; Emil Ohmen, Oshkosh; Mrs. Harriet Schafer, Milwaukee; Mrs. Emma Witt, Thorp; Mrs. Anna Ostberg, Tacoma, Washington; Ephraim Ohmen, Green Grove; Miss Ida Ohmen and Mrs. Ada Paulos, Chicago and Mrs. Edith Donnor, Gilman; two brothers and two sisters in Sweden; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. James Irish at the Methodist Church here, Tuesday afternoon and interment took place in the village cemetery. Pallbearers were Frank Smitke, Mike Kronberg, Jerry Asselin, Wm. Glasshof, Alfred Burkhardt and Amos Sisco.
