Noll, Lorraine M. (July 28, 1932 - September 27, 2007)

Lorraine M. Noll, age 75, of Two Rivers, died early Thursday morning, September 27, 2007 at Aurora Medical Center, Two Rivers, WI.

Lorraine was born July 28, 1932 in Neillsville, daughter of the late Martin and Susan (Freund) Feuerstein. She was a graduate of Neillsville High School with the class of 1950. After graduating in 1953 from St. Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing in Marshfield, she spent many years in nursing practice. In 1980 she graduated from Alverno College in Milwaukee with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. She attended the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh where she earned a Masters degree in Primary Care Nursing in 1983, and earned post-graduate credits toward a Doctorate in Education at Marquette University.

Lorraine had years of nursing experience in medical-surgical nursing, clinic nursing, and public health nursing. In 1977 she achieved Certification in Community Health Nursing from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and maintained this Certification until 2001 when she achieved Board Certification until 2006. Lorraine was a member of ANCC Community Health Nurse Test Development committee from 1981 to 1986 and from 1994 to 2002.

In 1983, Lorraine began her career in nursing education at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay where she was employed as an Associate Professor in Nursing until her retirement May 1, 2000 when she was awarded Associate Professor Emerita. In June 2000, Lorraine received the ANCC 10th Anniversary Certified Nurse Award for leadership and advancement of credentialing in nursing. Community Health Nursing and Advance Health Assessment were her major concentrations in teaching. She did extensive work promoting and facilitating the UW Green Bay Completion Program for Registered Nurses in the upper north area in Wisconsin from 1986 to 1997. In 1993 she received the UW Green Bay Founder’s Award for Excellence in Community Outreach.

Her active memberships included the American Nurses Association, Wisconsin Nurses Association, American Public Health Association, and Association of Community Health Nurse Educators. Lorraine’s life was centered on her family, nursing career, and outdoor interests; especially biking, cross-country skiing, and preservation of the environment.

Survivors include her four children, Andrew and Lisa (Post) Noll, of Oakdale, MN; Joseph and Sally (Gilbert) Noll, of Sheboygan; Robert and Amy (Blaisdell) Noll, of Two Rivers; Sarah (Noll) and Donald Geiger, of Two Rivers; six grandchildren, Stephen and Rachel Noll, Kaitlynn and Karli Noll, and Nicholas and Robert Folger; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Cynthia and Gilbert Frank, of Oshkosh; Kathryn and Jack Negaard, of Stevens Point; Janet and Michael Ward, of Wilmette, IL. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Gregory Noll in 1961. From 1954 to 1972 Lorraine was married to Donald Noll.

Funeral services were held on Monday, October 1, 2007 at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, Two Rivers. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial was Rev. William O’Brien. Burial was at Calvary Cemetery in Red Wing, MN.

The Klein & Stangel Funeral Home and Cremation Care Center, Two Rivers assisted the family with funeral arrangements.
