Dix, Irene (Marriage - 7 Oct. 1939)

A very pretty wedding was solemnized at the First Evangelical and Reformed church Saturday, October 7th, at 3:00 o’clock in the afternoon, Rev. S. A. Schmiechen officiating, when Miss Irene Dix, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Dix, became the bride of Lester E. Wegner of Milwaukee, Wis., son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Wegner. The bride was given away by her father. Miss Verna Larson was maid of honor and Margaret Franz was bridesmaid. The groom was attended by Elmer Gruenwald as best man and Carl Malischke. Donald Wolk assisted as usher. Mr. Frank Gruenwald, uncle of the bride, sang two songs, "At Dawning" and "Because." Music was played all during the ceremony.

The bride was attired in a becoming gown of white moiré with bustle back and full length veil with headpiece of orange blossoms, Her colonial bouquet consisted of assorted white flowers. Miss Larson wore a dress of cornflower moiré with bustle back and her colonial bouquet consisted of assorted orchid flowers. Miss Franz wore a dress of royal blue moiré with bustle back and her colonial bouquet consisted of bronze flowers.

A reception was held at the parish hall. Home decorations, shades of blue and white and garden flowers. The young couple left on a wedding trip to the northern part of the state and will be at home after October 15th at 3439 N. 3rd St., Milwaukee. The groom is employed by the A. J. Farnham Co., Milwaukee.

Guests at the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. Edward Wegner and daughter, Nancy, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Wegner and daughter, Audrey, Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Wegner and son, Robert, Mrs. Anthony Gaberial, Mrs. Ralph Koerner, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Gruenwald and daughter, Ruth, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Wolk and sons, Donald and Walter, Jr., Mrs. H. Gruenwald, Carl Malischke, Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Martin, all of Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Wells and son, Frederick, Mrs. Albert Dix and son, Aaron, Mrs. Ed. Dix and son, Edward, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Dix, all of Neenah, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Larson and daughters, Verna and Joanne, and John Fehl of Wausau, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Dix, Mrs. Julia Wolk, Mr. Keith Beechel and Alvina Heise of Colby.

The bride is a graduate of Colby, Wis. High School and Central State Teachers College. She is a member of Lau Gamma Beta Sorority.
