Edward Ziemendorf was born on 23 Aug 1862, the son of Frederick & Augusta (Renner) Ziemendorf.  27 Nov 1884, Alice Lucinda Messing was married to Edward in her home town, Almond, Portage Co., Wisconsin.  She was the daughter of George and Mary Ann (Eager) Messing and was born on 19 Dec 1866.  Ed was twenty-two years old and his bride was just seventeen.

Four years later (abt 1888), the young couple moved to Clark County settling on wild lands. They developed a farm which was their home for thirty years. About 1922 they started a store which also served as their home.

Their daughter, Alice Lucille Kay Ziemendorf  was named for her mother and was born 17 Apr 1906.

On Thanksgiving Day 1934, they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. At the time of Alice's death in 1937 their children were as follows:

Mrs. Viola (Bob) Schrieber, Fall River; Mrs. Grace (Charles) Neuman, Cary; Mrs. Lillian (Erwin) Klevebenan, Appleton; Mrs. Ada Zielsdorf, Doylestown; Mrs. Ruby Wittekamp, Ladysmith; Mrs. Lucille (Eric) Stuebes; Lindsey; Oscar, Wausau; Dewey (Gladys) La Valle; William, Arthur and Ada at home. Three sisters also survive: Mrs. Julia Sparks, Mt. Hood, Wash.; Mrs. Augusta Clement, Sidney, Mont.; and Mrs. Orville Rogers, Stevens Point.

Edward died 12 Aug 1928. Alice was a widow for nearly ten years, but 31 Jan 1937 she passed away at her home after a week long illness. Both Alice and Ed are buried in the Sherwood Township Cemetery, Clark County, Wisconsin.

*Note: Some family records show the marriage of Edward and Alice (Messing) Ziemendorf took place in the Town of Oasis (Plainfield, Wis.)
