Martens, Pauline (Marriage - 25 June 1940)

Miss Pauline Martens, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Emil J. Martens of Unity, and Mr. Helmuth Kuester, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edmund Kuester of Riplinger were married Tuesday, June 25th, at St. John’s Lutheran church at Riplinger, Rev. Franklin Albrecht reading the marriage ceremony. Two beautiful songs, "Always" and "I Love You Truly," were rendered by Mr. and Mrs. Ted Domer, uncle and aunt of the bride.

The bride was attired in a beautiful white gown of double net over taffeta, floor length, fashioned colonial, with sweetheart neckline. Her finger tip veil was fashioned of silk illusion net with a tiara of orange blossoms. A gold cross completed her costume. Her colonial bouquet consisted of roses, sweet peas, carnations and feverfew, tied with a double bow of tulle.

Caroline Martens, sister of the bride, was maid of honor and Bernice Martens was bridesmaid. The maid of honor wore a peach colored colonial dress of faille taffeta with hat of scarlet O’Hara design to match the dress. The bridesmaid wore a similar dress of aqua blue and both wore a wrist corsage and a necklace, a gift of the bride’s.

The groom was attended by Imanuel Kuester of Desmett(?), South Dakota, and Otto Kuester of Milwaukee. Both wore dark suits and a boutonneire of carnations and the groom wore a rose boutonneire.

A reception for members of the immediate relatives was given at the home of the bride’s parents, covers being laid for thirty-five. The color scheme used in decorating the home was peach, blue and white.

The couple will make a wedding trip to Northern Wisconsin lake region and will be at home after July 5th in Milwaukee where the groom is employed by the Smith Manufacturing Co.

Guests at the wedding were Arnold Kuester of Akron, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Kuester of Milwaukee, Rev. and Mrs. Franklin Albrecht of Spencer, Mr. and Mrs. Edmund Kuester and sons, Victor and Wilburt, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Domer and daughter of Unity, Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Rex and family of Unity, Wis.
