Rites Held For Robert E. Volz
Neillsville--Services were held at 1:30 p.m. today (Monday) at Georgas Funeral Home on Fifth street for Robert E. Volz, 82, of Wisconsin Rapids, former resident of the town of Washburn, who died Friday at Riverview Hospital in Wisconsin Rapids. The Rev. William Dushek, pastor of the First Methodist Church, officiated and burial was made in the Neillsville cemetery.
Mr. Volz was born Nov. 17, 1884, at Baraboo and was educated in Reedsburg schools. He farmed in that area until he was married on Oct. 2, 1913, at Baraboo to the former Velmer Linton. They moved to Clark County, where they operated a farm in the town of Washburn for 41 years. In 1954 they moved to Pittsville where they lived for one year, and then moved to Wisconsin Rapids. The couple celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary Oct. 2.
Mr. Volz had been ill for only three days preceding his death.
Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Mrs. John (Marcella) Adams, Richmond, Calif.; Mrs. William (Florence) Kopp, Cambridge; Mrs. Rodger (Iva) Northup, Grayslake, Ill.; and Mrs. Stanley (Debora) Rosenthal, Wisconsin Rapids; seven sons, George and Harry, Wisconsin Rapids; Lester, Black River Falls; Gerald, City Point; Wilbur, Orland, Calif.; Willis, Neillsville, and Raymond, Waukesha; three brothers, Walter and Charles, Prairie du Sac; and Fred, Poynette; 22 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Two brothers and a half-sister preceded him in death.
