Martin, Laura N. (July 3, 1948 - October 5, 2007)

Laura N. Martin, age 59, of Withee, passed away Friday, October 5, 2007, at her residence in the Town of Hixon.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 9, at Longwood Mennonite Church in the Town of Longwood with Irvin Zimmerman officiating. Burial was in the Longwood Mennonite Cemetery. Visitation was at the house at W5992 Highway X, Withee, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 on Monday, October 8.

Laura was born July 3, 1948, in Lancaster County, PA, to John S. and Esther (Nolt) Martin, Jr. She received her education in the Lancaster County schools. On October 8, 1970, she married Jesse Z. Martin in Lancaster County, PA. Most of her life was spent working on the farm and raising her children.

Survivors are her husband, Jesse Z. Martin; mother, Esther S. Martin; children: Linda (Elvin) Leid, Elton (Elva) Martin, Esther (Alvin) Nolt, Emma (Paul) Martin, Rosann Martin, Ruth (Marlin) Snyder, Laura Martin, Erla Martin, John Martin, Paul Martin, Jesse Martin, Jr., Mary Martin, and 17 grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Naomi (Noah) Hoover, Eva (Allen) Horning, Rufus (Anna) Martin, Alvin (Vera) Martin, Emma (Raymond) Brubaker, Elizabeth Martin, Rebecca (Nelson) Martin, Barbara (Mahlon) Shirk, Mary (Jesse) Brubaker, Mabel (Robert) Kline, and Alma (Elam) Shirk.

She was preceded in death by her father, John S. Martin, Jr; sister, Miriam; and one grandson.

Pall bearers were: John Alvin Martin, Roy Hoover, Stephen Shirk, John David Horning, Matthew Shirk and Wesley Brubaker.
