Hermanson, Martha #2 (DEC 1939)

At a beautiful candlelight service amid the setting of the Christmas season Miss Martha *Hermansen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Marcus Hermansen of the Town of Hoard (Clark Co., Wis.), and Harold Laabs, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Laabs of Curtiss, exchanged matrimonial vows uniting them in the holy bonds of matrimony.

The ceremony was performed at three o’clock p.m. in the Curtiss Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Rev. W.L. Anderson reading the service.

Miss Hermansen, a graduate of the Owen High School and River Falls Teachers College, made a beautiful bride as she was gowned in a slate blue street dress and carried a bouquet of blue orchids. Her bridesmaids, the Misses Mary Thompson, who wore a dubonnet street dress, and Helen Lorentzen, who wore a navy street dress with white trim, each carried a bouquet of white gardenias.

The groom was attended by his brother, Frederick, as best man and Herman Hermansen, all of whom wore conventional dark suits. Mr. Laabs is a graduate of the Abbotsford, Wis. High School, the Wentworth Military Academy, and the University of Wisconsin Dairy School. The past couple of years he has been employed as cheesemaker in his father’s plant at Curtiss, Wis. He holds a high place in the community and both he and his bride have a host of friends who wish them happiness.

Following the service the couple were honored at a dinner served at the home of the bride’s parents, after which a reception was held which was followed by a dance, given by the newlyweds for their friends, in the village hall at Curtiss, Wis.

The couple are now away on a two weeks’ honeymoon trip which will take them through Oklahoma and the neighboring southern states.

**The surname is spelled as it was in the original write up. Index as Hermanson.
