Karsten, Joe (13 July 1857 - 17 Feb. 1943)

Funeral services for Joe Karsten, age 76, were conducted Saturday afternoon at the Griebenow Funeral Home at Owen and internment was made in the Green Grove cemetery.

Mr. Karsten, who lived alone near the Curtiss village limits, was found dead in bed by his niece, Mrs. F. Kraut, who called to see him last week Wednesday afternoon. She found the door locked but gained entrance with the aid of Curtiss authorities and discovered he had died during the night. He had been a semi-invalid the past year. He was born in Germany and came to the United States when a boy with his parents. He spent the next 40 years on a farm in the town of Colby, Wis. He retired about 20 years ago and lived in the village of Curtiss ever since.

A brother, Chris Karsten, and a sister, Mrs. Ebert, preceded him in death. The only immediate survivors include two nephews, Harry Karsten of Curtiss and Alfred Karsten of Abbotsford, Wis., and a niece, Mrs. Franklin Kraut of Green Grove.
