Frane, Catherine (14 Sept. 1879 - 6 June 1943)

Mrs. Victor Frane died at 5:40 o’clock Sunday morning at the St. Joseph’s Hospital at Marshfield, where she had been a patient the past five weeks receiving treatments for a heart ailment, at the age of 65 years. The body was at the Frane home until Wednesday when it was taken to the Lulloff Funeral Home where a rosary was recited Wednesday evening. Funeral services will be conducted this Thursday morning at 9:30 o’clock at St. Mary’s Catholic church and internment will be made in the Catholic cemetery. Sons will be pall bearers and those in charge of the flowers are Yvonne Kniess, Myron Frane, Genevieve Allar, Bernadette Engeldinger, Howard Frane, James Allar, George Smudde and David Frane.

The deceased, whose maiden name was Catherine Engeldinger, was born on Sept. 14th, 1879, in the town of Colby where she lived all her life. On May 7, 1901, she was married to Victor Frane in Colby, Wis., and they made their home on a farm in the town of Colby ever since their marriage. Mrs. Frane was a member of the Christian Mothers’ Society, the Women’s Catholic Order of Foresters, the Catholic Family Assurance Society and the Royal Neighbors of America. She was a good Christian, of a congenial and industrious disposition and well liked by all who knew her.

Surviving besides her husband are nine children - Arthur Frane of Athens, Mrs. Math (Lucile) Allar, Jr., Mrs. Myron (Evelyn) Kniess and Alvin, Vincent and Donald Frane of Colby, Mrs. William (Catherine) Roohr, Jr., of Loyal, Edward Frane of Royal Oak, Mich., and Theodore Frane of Curtiss, Wis. Also 19 grand children and two sisters - Sister M. Fina of Loyal and Mrs. Eugene Spellmann of Milwaukee.

Funeral services for Mrs. Victor Frane, age 62, whose death was reported last week, were held last Thursday morning at St. Mary’s Catholic church with Rev. L. J. Lang reading the requiem high mass. Burial was made in the Colby cemetery. Pall bearers were five sons - Arthur, Theodore, Alvin, Edward, and Vincent Frane and Matt Allar, Jr. Grand children were in charge of the flowers and were Marion and Howard Frane, Yvonne Kniess, Genevieve and James Allar, Mary Jane and Alois Stark, David Frane, Geo. Smudde and Bernadette Engeldinger.

Out of town people here for the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Frane and daughter, Dianne, of Athens, Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Frane and family of Curtiss, Mr. and Mrs. William Roohr, Jr., and daughter, Joanne, Sister M. Fina and Sister M. Francis of Loyal, Edward Frane of Royal Oak, Mich., Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Spellmann of Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs. August Stark and son, Alois, and daughter, Mary Jane, and Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Neitzke of Wausau, Mrs. Anna Andrews, Mrs Agnes Robinson and Mrs. Anton Gulcynski of Thorp, Mr. and Mrs. T. C. Frane and daughter, Shirley, of Minneapolis, Mrs. Charles Eichlepp of Phillips, Miss Imelda Bartler and Mrs. Ray Harlow of Manitowoc, Miss Mary and Miss Kathleen Frane of Marshfield, Mrs. Chester Lau of Curtiss and Mrs. Nellie Driscoll and Miss Margaret Driscoll of Owen, Wis.
