Allmann, Charles (11 Dec. 1874 - 27 Aug. 1943)

Charles Allmann, age 68, died of cancer of the lung Friday night at 11:20 o’clock at his home in Colby following an illness of three months.

Funeral services were held at the Colby Methodist church Wednesday afternoon, Rev. A. C. Riley officiating, and intenment was made in the Medford cemetery. Members of the Odd Fellows lodge were pall bearers and members of the city council of Colby were honorary pall bearers. Pall bearers were Carl Holtzhausen, J. W. Johnson, Earl Salter, Ed Melander, Gust Melander and Wm. Harvey. Honorary pall bearers were C. R. Whitney, O. W. Sturner, Vernon Loos, R. W. Strathman, W. E. Billman and R. Stieber. Those in charge of the flowers were Mrs. Wm. Waldhart, Margaret Waldhart, Margaret Clark, Mrs. Louie Young, Marie Van Sleet, Elenore Krieg, Mrs. Clifford Daines and Rosland Vanderhoof.

Mr. Allmann was born in Sheboygan Falls on Dec. 11th, 1874, thus reaching the age of 68 years, 8 months and 16 days. His father, Adam Allmann, was born in Germany and his mother was born in New York. From Sheboygan Falls, Mr. Allmann moved to Medford where he was married to Lillie Draeger on October 22, 1907. They came to Colby in 1908. He was a barber for 38 years and was a member of the Methodist church and the Odd Fellows. He served as alderman of the city of Colby for 14 years and held this office at the time of his death. He acted as mayor at one time for the unexpired term of the late E. Witt about twenty years ago.

Surviving are his wife and eight children - Lawrence and Hazel Allmann of Colby, Cpl. Lloyd Allmann of Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo., Mrs. Nerel (Winona) Cossgrave of Springfield, Ill., Mrs. Thorwald (Loretta) Nelson of Marshfield, Cpl. Edward Allmann of Fort Riley, Calif., Pvt. Charles Allmann of Camp Elliott, Calif., and Gerald Allmann of Colby, Wis. Also two brothers, William and Adam Allmann, both of Medford, and five grand children.

The deceased was a good Christian, honest in all his dealings and always lived so that his life and conduct would suffer no reproach to be on his character as a fellow citizen or husband and father.

Out of town people here for the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Paul Draeger and Rev. and Mrs. Edward Becker and son of Marinette, Lloyd Draeger, Paul Draeger, Mrs. Fred Allmann and Mrs. Alma Roohr of Milwaukee, Margaret Clark of Stevens Point, Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Nelson and daughter, Laura, Elenor Krieg, Mrs. Sue Warner, Herb Krieg, all of Marshfield, Marie Van Sleet of Unity, Mr. and Mrs. Will Allmann and grandson, Norman, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Brunn, Mrs. John Allmann, Mrs. Adam Allmann, Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Stimm, Elmore Allmann, Mrs. Clarence Stimm, Mrs. Paul Allmann, all of Medford and Archie Roohr of Appleton.
