Bauer, Gertrude (Marriage - 27 Nov. 1943)

Miss Gertrude Bauer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Bauer of Colby, chose the 26th wedding anniversary of her parents as the date for her marriage to Harry A. Blackwood, son of Mr. and Mrs. Archie Blackwood, Marshfield. The nuptial ceremony was read in the St. John’s Catholic church at Marshfield Saturday at 9 A.M. with the Rev. Augustine Frisch officiating.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a gown fashioned with white satin bodice and full marquisette skirt ending in a long train with lace butterfly insets. Her fingertip veil, edged with Chantilly lace, was caught to a beaded crown studded with rhinestones. She carried a shower bouquet of pink roses and white carnations and her only jewelry, an heirloom, was a dainty pearl necklace.

The maid of honor, Miss Victoria Feuerstein, who was a classmate of the bride at St. Joseph’s School of Nursing, wore a gown of blue brocaded taffeta, matching veiled headdress and wrist corsage of pink roses. Mrs. Lawrence Kaniewski, sister of the groom, was bridesmaid and wore a dress of rose taffeta and a wrist corsage of pink roses. Joan Blackwood of Rochester, Minn., a niece of the groom, was train bearer.

Floyd Blackwood of San Diego, Calif., and Carmont H. Blackwood, Rochester, Minn., attended their brother.

Dinner and supper were served to about 65 guests at the groom’s home, decorated with pink, blue and white streamers. A three-tiered wedding cake formed the centerpiece at the bride’s table. In the evening a dance was given at the Eagle’s Hall in Marshfield.

The bride was graduated from the Colby, Wis. High School with the class of 1939, and from St. Joseph’s School of Nursing in June, 1943. The groom, a graduate of the Marshfield High School with the class of 1939, is employed on his father’s farm, east of Marshfield. After a week’s wedding trip they will reside at the home of the groom’s parents.

Relatives and friends who attended the wedding included Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Bauer, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Schuster and son, Gordon, Miss Dolores Beyerl, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Beyerl, Mr. and Mrs. William Reusch and Miss Beatrice Kraus, of Colby; Mr. and Mrs. Carmont H.
