Dennis L. Schraufnagel

Dennis L. Schraufnagel, 61, Edgar, died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2007, at the House of the Dove, Marshfield.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. For 25 years, Dennis taught ag classes at Edgar High School, and worked for the Bank of Edgar as a loan officer for three years.

Survivors include his wife, Susan (Mateofsky) Schraufnagel, Edgar; four sons, Greg (Andrea) Schraufnagel, New Brighton, Minn., Dave (Jamie) Schraufnagel and Jon Schraufnagel, all of Edgar, and Paul (Corissa) Schraufnagel, Wausau; three grandchildren; his father, Cletus (Maryjo) Schraufnagel, Colby; five siblings, Carol (Steve) Luther, Pat (Sharon) Schraufnagel and Terry (Faye) Schraufnagel, all of Colby, Mary (Rod) Umlauft, Stetsonville, and Joan (Gene) Peissig, Abbotsford; and many other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. John Catholic Church, Edgar. Burial will be in St. John Catholic Cemetery, Edgar, with full military honors conducted by the American Legion Sawyer-Drumm Post No. 393, Edgar.

Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Edgar, and again from 10 a.m. until time of services Monday at the church. There will be a rosary service at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for scholarships.

Dennis L. Schraufnagel

Dennis L. Schraufnagel, 61, Edgar, was born to peace and eternal life Thursday, Nov. 29, 2007, at the House of the Dove, Marshfield.

He was born July 12, 1946, in Owen, son of Cletus Schraufnagel and the late Anna Marie (Hanson) Schraufnagel. On Oct. 7, 1972, he married Susan Mateofsky in Ashland. She survives.

Dennis was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. For 25 years, Dennis taught Ag. Education and was a mentor at Edgar High School, and also worked for the Bank of Edgar as a loan officer for three years. He was an active member of St. John Catholic Church, Edgar, and taught C.C.D. classes for the children of St. John Catholic School, and taught high school C.C.D. classes for several years. Dennis was a lifetime member of the F.F.A. Alumni, a member of the Edgar Lions Club and the American Legion Sawyer-Drumm Post No. 393, Edgar. Among his many interests, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and making maple syrup. Dennis built their cabin, north of Athens, where he loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Susan Schraufnagel, Edgar; four sons, Greg (Andrea) Schraufnagel, New Brighton, Minn., Dave (Jamie) Schraufnagel, Edgar, Paul (Corissa) Schraufnagel, Wausau, and Jon Schraufnagel, Edgar; three grandchildren, Kade, McKenna and Drew Schraufnagel; his father, Cletus (Maryjo) Schraufnagel, Colby; five siblings, Carol (Steve) Luther, Pat (Sharon) Schraufnagel and Terry (Faye) Schraufnagel, all of Colby, Mary (Rod) Umlauft, Stetsonville, and Joan (Gene) Peissig, Abbotsford; his father- and mother-in-law, Robert and Marjorie Mateofsky, Green Bay; two sisters-in-law, Nancy Peterson, Green Bay, and Kathy (Ron) Stroshane, Churchville, Pa.; and many other relatives and friends.

The funeral Mass and celebration of his life will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 3, 2007, at St. John Catholic Church, Edgar. The Rev. Norman Boneck will preside. Burial will be in St. John Catholic Cemetery, Edgar, with full military honors conducted by the American Legion Sawyer-Drumm Post No. 393, Edgar.

Friends may call from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Edgar, and again from 10 a.m. until time of services Monday at the church. There will be a rosary service at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Richard Mercier, Julie and the staff of the Oncology Department at Saint Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield, for their loving care and support for Dennis and his family over the past nine years. The family would also like to thank all of his many special friends for their visits, support and prayers.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family to set up future scholarship funds for students.
