Raine, Zona (Marriage - 14 Aug. 1943)

The Methodist Church, Neillsville was the scene of the wedding of Miss Zona Raine, daughter of Mrs. Fred Raine, Neillsville, and Gale L. Vandeberg, son of Mr. and Mrs. Horace Vandeberg, town of York, Saturday, August 14, at 2 p.m. The double ringer ceremony was read by the Rev. Obed Asp of Glenwood City, assisted by Rev. Floyd Fahlgren, of the Methodist Church, Neillsville, Wis.

The bride, who was given away by her mother, was attired in white barred dotted Swiss with a finger tip veil. She wore a pearl necklace and bracelet, and her flowers were a shower bouquet of white gladioli. Miss Lea Raine, sister of the bride, and maid of honor, wore a gown of yellow embroidered organdy and her corsage was of yellow agapatha roses. She wore an iri delle bead necklace.

The groom was attended by his brother, Lt. Harold Vandeberg, of the U. S. Army Ushers were *[portion missing here.] the Misses Bernadine and Carol Peterson.

Little Arlynn Egger, nephew of the groom as ring bearer, wore a suite of white sharkskin and carried the ring in white gladioli. The bride was preceded to the altar by two little flower girls, Elsbeth and Susan Asp, who carried white baskets filled with white asters and pink Cleome. They both wore dresses of yellow crepe.

The bride’s mother was attired in a rose crepe dress and wore a corsage of white gladioli filled with pink valsam. The groom’s mother chose green and white crepe and her corsage was of white daisies.

A wedding reception for 150 guests was held in the church parlors immediately after the service. The groom was decorated with pink and white streamers and two large wedding bells.

Wagner’s wedding march was played by Miss Marilyn Randall of Madison, ad the bride marched down the aisle. Miss Randall is a friend of the bride. Mrs. Obed Asp sang "O Perfect Love."

The bride and groom will be at home to their friends at their home in Dorchester after August 25.

Mrs. Vandeberg was a graduate of the Neillsville High School in 1940 and the Madison business college in 1941. She has been employed as an assistant clerk and typist in the FEB Washington, D. C., for the past two years. Mr. Vandeberg was a graduate of the Neillsville High School in 1938 and the University of Wisconsin in 1943. He is now employed as an Agricultural instructor in Dorchester, Wis. High School. At the University he was a member of the Delta Theta Sigma, Professional agricultural fraternity.

Out-of-town guests at the wedding were: Mrs. Harold Shedden, Manawa, aunt of the bride; Mrs. Neil Johnston, Loyal, cousin of the bride; Mrs. J. H. Randall, Augusta; Marilyn Randall, Madison; Mr. and Mrs. Loud Vandeberg, Chicago; brother of the groom; Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Egger and family, Fond du Lac; a sister of the groom; Mrs. Elwin Root, Tripoli, aunt of the groom; Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Alton, Westboro, uncle and aunt of the groom.
