Smith, Peter (1856 - 1 Jan. 1944)

Peter Smith, a former Colby, Wis., citizen, died Saturday morning at 5:30 o’clock at the age of 87 years at a Wausau hospital after an illness of ten days. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock at the Helke Funeral Home at Wausau with the Rev. M. B. Ferguson, pastor of the Colby Methodist church, officiating. Burial was made in the Wausau Pine Grove cemetery.

The deceased was born in 1856 in Germany and was married in Sheboygan in 1878 to Miss Wilhelmine Ahrens who died May 27th, 1919. He was formerly engaged in farming at Colby, Wis.

Surviving are a son, Paul Smith, of Colby, Wis., and five daughters, Mrs. Charles Herzog and Mrs. Oscar Stanisch of Sheboygan, Mrs. Edward Purkis of Oak Park, Ill., Mrs. Sarah Whitney of Colby, Wis., and Mrs. Raymond LeFee of Saskatchewan, Canada.
