Clerf, Josephine (2 FEB 1875 - 5 MAY 1940)

Mrs. Wm. Clerf, 65, passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital at Chippewa Falls on Sunday, May 5th, 1940. Her death was caused by ruptured gall bladder.

Josephine Chenneaux was born in Hobscheid, Luxemburg on Feb. 2, 1875. She was united in marriage to Wm. Clerf at the Cathedral Reims on Feb. 8, 1894 and in the year 1895 came to America with her husband. They resided at St. Joe, Iowa for two years and at Barron, Wis. until 1918 when they came to this county and settled on a farm south of Thorp in the Town of Worden (Clark Co., Wis.).

She leaves to mourn, her husband, one son, Michael and one daughter, Mrs. Wm. Huberty of Thorp; one brother, Pierre Chenneaux of Hautcharage, Luxemburg, and one sister, Mrs. Marg Kaufman of Lorentzweiler, Luxemburg.

The funeral was held at St. Bernard’s Church at nine o’clock Wednesday morning, Rev. A.M. Muckerheide officiating, and interment taking place in St. Bernard’s Parish Cemetery. Pallbearers were, Alex Soeller, Louis Henke, Jos. Benzschawel, Anton Baldeschwiler, Wm. Oberle and Aug. Walsdorf.
